I finally took the plunge from wanting to run hounds, to actually doing it. I trained and ran bird dogs (mainly pointing breeds) for many years. I guided for upland birds with dogs aside with my dog training business, and enjoyed it all for the most part. However, I always wished I could run hounds on coons, bobs, lions, etc. Recently, I was down to my last trained bird dog, and since I heard of the loss of a needy family's hunting companion, I handed my good 'ol wirehair over to them. They loved that dog so much, and I was now open to treeing dogs... win/win situation! I being from the most extreme corner of MT and trees in such short supply, I figured my chasing with hounds "dream" to be quite rediculous! Finally though, I said to heck with that idea floating around my head, and here I am, with two Blue pups and a strong desire to make this work!
Aside from my day job, I run a herd of cows, small trapline, and hunt all types of game.
Hope to find another nut job on here, that runs hounds on the big prairie.
