New to State and Sport

Postby walkerbluetick » Sat Jun 28, 2014 3:42 am

Hello
I am new to the area and to the sport I have a 6 month walker bluetick and I have just moved to Oregon. Can you hunt anything with hounds in Oregon? I have looked at the odfw and I cant find anything helpful. I have recently moved to Bend and am wondering if there is anyone in the area to help me train my dog and possibly run something, Hoping someone can help thanks everyone!! :D

I think you can hunt bobcats and coons with your hound in season. Might be able to run rabbits. Not sure about that. I think you might be able to run coyotes year round, but I am not even sure about that. Hope fully you can find the info for sure. I hope you have fun with your new hound. That bluetick half should be pretty good. :D hopefully that walker half will follow along.

Don't listen to that bluetick advice coming from an eastern coon hunter. :P :P :P hahahaha You have to get a furtakers hunting license to run coon in Oregon and a bobcat harvest card to run bobcat. Pursuit season starts Sept 1st and kill season for coon is Nov 15 and cat is Dec1. Cat season runs to the end of February and Coon, I believe, to mid March. Coyotes are year round but not many game wardens will believe you are running yotes because its been a standard lie used for years by guys who were running other game.
