I'm new on this forum, my name is Janna. I am getting my first hounds on friday, i'm not sure what I want to try and train them to hunt yet, maybe just trail blood, but I live in GA so if i run them it will probably be on small stuff like rabbits and raccoons. Heck they may not turn out to be anything like the dogs 'm reading about on here, they're just mutts, bassett hound/red tick hound mix but I want them to work and have fun. My main goal in joining this forum is to do some research so I can get down the basics on training techniques. I have trained a good many dogs for obedience, and my little dachshund is a therapy dog and my golden retriever is my duck hunting retriever but I have never worked with tracking hounds before, I am definately looking forward to the experience!!!

Got to the training tips section and read Mike's post! That will work on any type of game you are wanting to run.

Get ready, it's addicting! Sometimes I think it would be more enjoyable just to go hunting and let them tree anything that will climb, just keep them broke off of game that won't tree. It's all fun!
