Thats pretty typical for a pup .They don't like being restrained.I take my time with pups, putting the lease on them every day but only for a minute or two. That way they gradually get use to it.It doesn't hurt to give them a treat ,like a hot dog, every time you do it.That gets them to anticipate a training session . Hope this helps you and always remember to have patience when training .

just be patient it all comes in time. once you get them leash broke take em on short walks and go further and further with them. bonding with your hound and letting them know you calls the shots makes them alot better to handle when you start hunting them. just try not to get over aggressive with them cuz it can ruin a dog in some aspects.

Where in Oregon are you? Another trick you can use for a pulling dog is to put the leash on the wrap it around under his chest behind his front legs and back through the top on his back (like a makeshift harness) they don't like their chest squeezed once he quits pulling go back to the normal way of a leash...and with all puppies its reputation (hounds are a little more hard headed)
