Well, here it goes. My name is John, I have been checking out the site for the past year or so. I acquired a couple hounds from a friend of mine that has ran hounds for quite a while now and a couple I got on my own. All of them are pups anywhere from 1yr and a couple 1yr 6mos., but I have been working with them a bit using Lion and sometimes Bear scents and they have a good start. My dogs are : Belle(F) large Black and tan, Her nose is to the ground all the time. Thor(M) large Blue tick/ Plott, He loves a hot trail and sticks with it. Dusty(M) Black and Tan, He is just a babbler, always barking about something. Sugar(F) Black and Tan mix she is very skittish, but follows Belle with nose to ground. and last but not least Toes(F) Black and Tan, She loves to trail, the problem is she trails everything, she needs some work. I usually work with two of them at a time, Belle and Thor work really well together and they love to be out trailing. Mainly I use Cronks Scents for training, they seem to work well. I have invested in Garmin Alpha and TT10 collars. I also happened to get a 1994 toyota pickup 4x4 in really great shape for a really really good price. Currently I am building a dog box for the bed.
I Happen to have a great Mentor, My Step Dad who ran hounds in the 60's, 70's and 80's. He is old school, but he is willing to help. He gives me advice and a few pointers and they usually work out great.
