No not here in California, not at the moment at least I did do some hunting on a friend of mines parents house in central ca, they have a little farm like 60 acres i think but that is tiny to run dogs on. That friend wont go up there anymore cause I guess he had a really serious fall out with his pops so until that is mended nothing else. I was hoping to hear of some half way descent public land but I did hear there is not much of that, or meet someone who wouldn't mind me tagging along.

I've lived in ca my whole life. It used to be easier to find a place to go but anymore it's near impossible and most public land sucks.my brother leases a big ranch and guides hog hunts but its not a lot of fun really its more of a job to deal with some of the hunters.

Yeah kind of seems that way. Do they ever allow you to hunt the ranch? Also how much do they charge, I have seen crazy numbers to hunt a pig. You go to Texas or OK they pay you to hunt them, here in CA they want your first born! lol

Ya I can if I want but I'm not really into hog hunting he charges 500 for a dog hunt 300 for a spot and stalk.i used to really like it but anymore I find myself not going very often.i like to go watch his dogs sometimes. He hunts running dog crosses and I like to see how they are doing from time to time

Yeah I have a few real nice bulldogs, been raising and breeding apbt's now since I was 13. I also have someone that will be sending me a pup out of good hog dog stock here after the new year. I am also trying to learn more about Plotts and maybe buy a couple of them. I want to build a pack over this next year. What type of dogs you run?

Have u ever had your own pack of hog dogs before? Plotts or any sort of hound is going to be a pretty rangy hunter u would have to have a pretty large ranch to hunt. We dont use catch dogs don't like the vet bills and also it's not that good to most people paying for a hunt when the dogs have the hog half eaten or the meat blood shot so bad we use a crogen cross hound and a few curs. But our ranch is 20,000 acres so there's plenty of ground. If I were u and were just starting out I would find a good cowboy and try to get some good mcnab cow dog that isn't working out for them that might be a good way for u to get started fairly easy

I will be trying to get a pup from a real nice litter of curs, they are hog and stock dogs from Florida. Short range a little grit but not straight catch, usually one out type dogs. I just like hounds I know that they are not the best fit that is why I have reserved that other pup and I will be looking into getting another one from similar lines. But I think I still would like a Plott. Call me stubborn but we will see I am in no rush.

They sure do, and they dont treat pigs like exotic big game like we do here, they treat it like the pest it is, and understand the more that get caught the more it benefits everybody!

Texas is about population control in California it's all about money.
