Hunter from South Dakota
Hey this is Clancy Clifford. My Dad has been hunting stag hounds for the last 35+ years and I own 2 terriers. I'm looking to get a pair of hounds thus spring but wanting to know what hound would fit me best. I'm gonna hunt lions and bobcats. I have guys in my area that were former hound owners. Willing to learn as much as I can. I have some work to do before spring like building kennels and getting some money worked up. But I was wondering what books what be good to buy and magazines to subscribe to? Any groups on Facebook and such? I live in South Western South Dakota. Thanks for reading and have a great new year!

Hey Clancy,
I'm not too far away from you over here in Wyoming. If you are looking for books to read, I would suggest the two books by John Wick called, "Walk With Wick Treedon Encyclopedia" Volumes 1&2. They talk alot about coonhounds as that as what Mr. Wick deals with, but most of the premise behind training and such will crossover to other types of treedogs. Another good book is, "Bobcat Dog", by David Peightal. All three of these books can be bought through Double U Hunting Supply and they are linked up at the top of the page.
I hope this helps.
Good luck.
Tex
