It Is Time For Richards to Resign

California Fish and Game Commission President Dan Richards needs to do the honorable thing, it is time for him to fall on his sword. S.B. 1221 is a direct result of his actions and could ultimately lead to the banning of hunting with hounds in California. It is probably to late to appease the antis with his resignation but it probably wouldn't hurt our cause. California's houndsmen are being dropped behind enemy lines in the battle with the HSUS and all the other antis. Richards is a liability and needs to go. If he won't go now after the introduction of the bill then he needs to be removed! They will keep me and my black and tans out of the woods when they pry the leashes from my cold, dead hands. -Pete

pete I will have to respectfully disagree with you. Richards broke no laws and was scrutinized for doing the exact thing each of us do, hunt with hounds. Richards did not resign and he stood up for what was right and I respect him for that. Although the Richards incident might be a thorn in our ass, he is still one of us , and like your signature says we must indeed all hang together or, most assuredly we shall all hang seperatly.

Richards is just an excuse for HSUS to do what was coming anyway, sooner or later. If we lose Richards from the F&G commission then we lose one of few allies on a board that has a direct effect on hunting.

He needs to stay. He is one of the few who will stand up for what is right. He went on a legal hunt and harvested an animal without apology. He is just being used as an excuse for SB1211. If it had not been him it would have been something else. The antis were just looking for an excuse to further their agenda. It would no absolutely no good for him to resign.

We need to focus and fight the issue at hand here. Everyone one needs to send letters of opposition to every member of the legislate that has to look at his bill. And try and get every orginization we can to aid in the fight.

I couldn’t agree more with Boss Hog, Kickemall, and Rimrock,
Commissioner Richards is pro hound and still has a vote with fish and game. Richards did nothing wrong and acted well within the law.
HSUS is just using this free bias media as free publicity and an opportunity to possibly get their way with hound hunting. It’s still fresh in the minds of the public. Commissioner Richards drew a lot of press from his hunt and the HSUS is just jumping on this media while the fire is still hot. This bill was coming anyway. The HSUS wants the public to believe that Richards caused this bill to surface, but the HSUS is just using it as their opportunity to strike.

If we give in and starting eating our own it will show weakness and that we can be pushed around and give in when ever the anti's raise there heads!
I feel that we should back him until hell freezes over.

Pete if we dont back Richards your giving the HSUS the Pry Bar. We all knew this fight was coming. For the last few yrs every time something positive to do with hound hunting was even talked about by our DFG the HSUS and other antis have said they will put this bill out there. All we can do now is to educate the non hunting, undecided public that make up the majority of the votes in this state.

dont buy into the bulls**t, this is the old divide and concur technique. They want us to believe that Richards is the problem

WE have already won the Richards ordeal and we have the momentum on our side , for the first time since I started hounding I see houndsmen standing together ready to fight and not bickering amongst themselves. once we win the battle with bs1221 we should come out swinging , keep the momentum going and get gps and lion hunting legalized again !

This fire was lite long before Richards went to Idaho, he maybe being used as a target today but he is not to blame for this, keep focused on our enemy HSUS AND NOT AT ONE OF OUR OWN !

Pete, most of the time I agree with your posts, but not this time. If the California houndsmen turn against Richards that in itself is a victory for HSUS. I wish you guys the best in this fight. It is not " you guys" either, this is everybody's fight that has hounds and loves hunting them. All houndsmen had better watch this fight because one day we will all be doing the same thing.

pete, i can not beleive the message my eyes just sent to my brain. personally i believe you owe the comisioner and every houndsmen in the country an apology. i'm not the sharpest tool in the tool shed, but am fully aware that the man did nothing wrong and it would be a cold day in hell before any outdoorsmen of any kind to expect him to lose his job. (let alone a houndsmen). if every hunter no matter what he or she hunts does not know that this is not just a california problem. good luck trying to pass hound hunting or any hunting to the future. every hunter that enjoys the outdoors should be kicking a buck, to help with this mess. i'm not good at the legal bs or who to donate money to so we wont get ripped of. but there has to be a houndsman that is a lawyer that could help. if every sportsman in this country sits on their thumbs and lets the houndsmen of california go this one alone. it won't be long before this comes to a city near you! p.s. it is real, do you remember lion hunting in california?
