It is miserably dry out here but my young potlickers that turned two on 7/15 are still catching coons. I hunted yesterday morning and caught 6, two on the ground and treed the others. I had a really good race going on #7 and it beelined to a deer proof fence. Still can't find a cat track but have been amazed how these two littermates can work a bad track and get the critter jumped.
I talked with a buddy who hunted Fri. nite at the Texas State Hunt in Madisonville and he said that 80% of the casts were dead, (did not tree a coon). This proves what I have been saying for sometime, the competition hunters have bred the nose off these dogs and they are simply not able to handle the dry conditions. Too much tree and not enough nose in my humble opinion.
Adios,
Gary

Well said Gary, competition hunting is alot of fun and has most of the fine bred best looking hounds doing there thing, but at the end of the day, there is alot of us that have just dang GOOD hounds even cross hounds that are treeing coon night and day.
