Hog dog gone coon dog?

Hiya,
well I orgininally got this dog to hunt hogs, lol he is the worst dog ever and has no interest in one, he is a greyhound X boxer.
recently I wanted to find another purpose for him and he flushes and retrives game, and is good at treeing squirrels and other critters.

But most recently I put him on a roll cage with a coon inside and he wanted to do nothing but get at it, took him to the woods after an hour and a half of looking for him he came running to me with a coon in his mouth.
I know he is by far no coonhound but you think he might work for it?
(this was in no neighborhood but actual woods and swamp)
