Live Trapping coons North Idaho

Postby Chuckar » Fri Dec 09, 2011 5:20 pm

Looking for a good area to live a trap a coon for some pup training. I live near Hayden Idaho and don't see very many road kills around, so maybe there just aren't very many coons around????????

I would be very careful about putting on an open forum what your asking, it's illegal and there are plenty of folks who monitor these sites.

I live in one of the houses around hayden creek and there are not a lot of coons around anymore. Used to be. I am also pretty sure there is nothing illegal about live trapping a raccoon i think you could not transport it to another area but could trap it. I dont really know but taxidermist told me that and then I heard that rule was changed.

Posting your illegal activities on this forum that every state agency is monitoring isn't the brightest idea. Trapping coons is fine, but transporting them to use to train dogs is illegal.

Yes it is. It is NOT the state laws that you are breaking. It is OK to catch and transport live coons in most states. It is your local city and county ordinances that will catch you. They all have animal cruelty laws and they are written to include just about any type of abuse to an animal that you can think of. And it is all up to interpretation with the Animal Control officer writing the ticket. Call your LOCAL animal control and ask them if you can catch a coon, release it in front of your dogs and see what they say. Several guys have already found this out the hard way. Just not a good idea to be posting anything like this for everyone to read!!
