No. I bought him from a lady in Ione, CA. So you think I should just take him out hunting somewhere and see if he will find one? Also, I live close by Ione and the only thing is I only got 5 acres and I don't know anyone who will let me use their land for hunting. One guys said try to hunt on some duck hunting land because the coons steal the ducks eggs and mess up their duck hunting. Do you think I should go their? Or would you know anybody around that might let me? Thanks

Their always around water and where there is dense cove. Swampy areas like duck hunting spots, with water and thick cover to lay up in, are good places too look for sign. I don't mean just take him out and hope he finds one. Go out and do some scouting. Look for coon sign like tracks and poop. Try to get a sense of older sign and fresh sign. Then try to put him on what you feel confident, is good fresh coon sign, that is able to be hunted. If you keep using trapped coons or drags, when you do take him out huntin. He's going to look at you like "where's the coon boss?"...lol.

oh, and 90% of my coon catches were at the swamp. Water, is usually a factor too a dog that's not used to it.

Re: Need Help All of You CoonHunters
I don't know what your laws are there but take a 5 gallon bucket put a pvc 90 degree elbow at the bottom and fill it with cheap dog food or corn put it on a steel fence post catch a couple and release them on it with some coon lure on the bucket so they smell it once those coon figure out there's food every day they will keep coming back then u can turn your dog out not on the bucket but a away's away and let him work the ground till he cuts the scent. With using the pvc elbow it helps keep other critters out that u dont want there like skunks ect. and i always run bells on my dogs so the coons can here them coming and take off. I lost one of my best dogs from a coon that bit my dog and gave him coon hound paralysis its a bacteria that they carry in the mouth thats why i run bells now and it dont happen all the time but better to be safe then sorry and lose a good dog hopefully this helps u a bit if theres any other questions i might be able to help u with i will be more then happy.Just a good way to get your dogs going.

thanks man. Also will the PVC pipe give off a scent so my dog will smell it and then track it? Also one last thing.

Re: Need Help All of You CoonHunters
Coon seem to be really smart about getting the food out of the pvc pipe were skunks and ect. have a hard time figuring it out it works realll good it is an awsome way to get dogs going becouse u will allays have coons on your feeders if u start getting to many coons and the food is going to fast then i will shoot one but thats only when i start getting to many hitting my feeders. iam kinda lucky i got about 5 miles of creek bottom to run and i have about 8 buckets out on an average night i will catch about 10 coons it just works good for younger dogs.

oh, so it will catch the coons? I thought you meant that it would leave their scent their, for my dog to track. I have a creek out in the back of my property so i think I'm going to put it over there.

No it wont catch the coons there about the only smart animal to get the dog food out of the pvc 90 elbo and they will keep coming back every night to get food out of the bucket so u can run the coons off of your bucket every night.
