!!!PICS!!!Last NIte in less than 10 degrees

Postby Treedog/Boone » Sun Jan 18, 2009 7:55 pm

We started at 9:30 pm last nite 15 degrees dumped my Cotton dog with two younger males Blaze and Canyon. We had three coons running a top the scrup oak on a side hill on that drop. Drove down the road to the next drop, dumped cotton and two females Bourbon and Shadow. They cold trailed for a while and the mercury was diving, now I really know the meaning of freezing your A$$ off. :D I decided to cut them off was able to catch up the two females and cotton showed himself for a few seconds cold trailing around then went deep. I sent my 2 buddy's and the females back to the truck and headed after him. After trailing him for over 20 minutes and tracking through knee deep snow he came up treed on a huge den tree in the sloughes. Usually I dont hunt unless its close to 30 degrees but I was aching to get out and so were the hounds. It was close to 1:00 am and under 10 degrees when I got to the tree. Notice the frost all over Cotton.

Thanx guys. I like hunting in the snow cause you get to see all the other tracks on the ground that the hounds have to track through to get the coon. Almost like like hunting lion but at nite and chasing coons  Only bad thing is busting through it to keep up with the hounds. lol
