We just hunt with hounds but my boys yard dog is a solid black Rat Terrier bout the size of a small Jack Russell and hes prolly as good a hunting dog as my Hounds...lol...He will tree coon, squirrel or go in a hole after anything and has been on some pretty nasty pigs. Hes a Conway Arkansas breed Terrier. I imagine he has some fiest in him somewhere.

I once has a Rhodesian Ridgeback Rebone cross. She would catch and tree her own game but souded just like a coyote on trail and ended up a little crazy so I got rid of her.

As a teenager a local old timer that helped me with trapping questions had an Australian Shepard that hunted and killed coon. He would bring it back to the house and no one but Glenn could touch it. From what I heard he used to raise and train some of the best bear dogs around here. He told me of a dog he got from another bear hunter that was a plott/irish wolfhound cross. He said the thing would not hunt bear or coon, but he started chasing mink. said he would go out on the creek on his property at night and start barking until Glenn came out and killed the mink.
