going to look at a dog tonight not sure what to look for how can i tell it will hunt?thanks

Have them hunt the dog by his self (no other dogs around), and see if the dog produces game.

i should have wrote it but it was a dog that they found and no one clamed.they dont hunt and the snow is to deep to try it in the woods.just dont want to get one that wont hunt

I would'nt waste the time .If they found it and if it was any good the owner would be looking for it. Nows the time to look for a pup and by this season it'll be hunting. Start with a pup and you will know what you got. Unless you can get one started off someone reputable.

There is no way to tell just by looking at it. It is not likely to be a good dog, but if it is a young dog it may be that it has never had any training. If it looks good to you, is not real timid or growly it may be worth trying. Some people just get tired of messing with dogs and dump them without giving them a real chance.
