Never the same drop.

Postby Jeep Hound » Sat Oct 20, 2007 2:03 pm

The other night we took the dogs out to one of the better drop spots and figured we would have a quick hunt, was out late the night before and was kinda dragging. Well as soon as we got there, five deer ran across the drop spot. Like I have told alot of folks, my dogs don't trash on deer. Well just to see if I was a lier, :) I dropped the dogs, after given the deer a chance to get out of there. Those dogs jumped out of the Jeep like they were on fire :? . Opened up and sang like the track to was on fire. I myself was thinking $^#@, I might have pushed this trashing thing a bit far :x . But I just kept quiet, ol'Bart dog is straight as they come  , man they are moving fast :? .
Wait a second they are treed, deer climb??? Just keep quiet and grab the gun. They don't trash. They don't trash. They don't trash. They don't trash. Well we just about get to the tree and off they go.

They don't trash.
They don't trash.
They don't trash.
They don't trash.
We played this game for quite a while and everytime we got close they would leave. Having some fun know. I decided that we were quite a ways from the Jeep and maybe somebody should go get it. After a long conversation on where the rig was parked and where the we were.My brother took off for the rig. I was almost sure he was heading the right way too. Being that it had been a week since I last seen the stars, and standing in a slough, directions were a bit fuzzy. The main goal was for me to go alone and catch up with the dogs and bro to bring the Jeep so we didn't have to carry the big "coon" all the way to where we originally parked.
As I walked along in the rain heading towards the dogs they suddenly started towards my bro. @#$% I think I will get to the trail and wait :) . "What the @#$$" when did they pave my trail, nevermind, keep quiet, buy yourself a compass. " Walking back a mile and a half I ran across the local deer population. They didn't look worried at all. "Man I should of gotten deer tags in this county :) ." The dogs on the other hand were very far away and sounding treed again.
Once back in the Jeep we warmed up the coffee cups and headed down the nice new trail  . By this time I was wondering what the kid that is tagging along with us (I sold him a pup recently) was thinking.
After finding a closer trail to the dogs, we unload yet agian and head through some more slough and poof, dogs are all treed up. And yes there were looking up. Thats right looking up. 8) Five coon later, and one moronic grinner. The mood in the Jeep seemed much lighter as we headed back.

Sleep when I'm dead I know

What I have noticed is it works best if you have at least two extra set of hands. It gets a little bit chaotic when you get three full grown hounds in a Jeep, then throw a couple young pups and three guys and it is definately a load. That was the situation last weekend. :)
