yes i have. when i first started hunting with dogs we caught a cat while coon hunting along a river. earlier this year i caught a cat that had a coon in the same tree. that was varified by a buddy that can vouch for it. and just the other day, we went coon hunting and caught a bobcat and later on caught a coon. two of the times were while hunting coons, but one time was while hunting cats and just had them in the same tree. coons live wherever they can find a home, same as cats. well, atleast thats how it is in oregon. at higher elevations there seem to be less coons, but cats live wherever there is habitat that will hold food for them wether it be on a creek, river or a mountain top.

I have caught many coons while bobcat hunting but never the other way around. Out here, the cats are a couple hours drive away, so I never am up there in order to hunt coon. but the coon are there, and are the #1 reason the cat show gets broke up. Normally, the coon are denned up in our cold weather, but many of the dens are in loggers piles and dry beaver dens, both are frequented by bobcats out shopping for groceries.

David, you are certainly right about coon breaking up a bobcat race. We hunted combination dogs years ago and many time had that happen.....sure was disappointing!
While we did tree a fair number of cats with combination dogs, there were just too many times that a dog which preferred coon would "break off" a cat on a coon and pull the other dogs or at least mess up the race. Finally stopped running cats mostly for this reason. Also, there must be a 1,000 coon for every cat around here so it made catching one very difficult.
I always enjoy your posts.

Just about every place I hunt around here has both living in the same general area. Never really had any trouble with it.
