ran one in a hole (pics)

Post by waylon »

Went out last night with my wanna be cat/coon hounds. Ran one like crazy but he made it to the den tree, sent my cousin up the tree, I will have him finished out to grand nite champ tree climbing champ by the end of this winter  Really though he climbs good but is scared to death of a coon. so he hollers back down yeah it's a coon, fine i say lets leave him and go on. Now the dogs i am hunting right now are a 2 year old redbone looking grade dog and a grade english gyp i call maggie tonight is her 2nd only time ever in the woods, and honestly she is an amazing hound despite her owner. Anyway left drove a mile or two dumped out at the edge of a pond and clifford bolts and starts chopping i let maggie go and she and clifford start tearing around the pound, as were standing there i see some thing run not 5 feet in front of me and its a coon, i start sreaming for the dogs who have stopped and are coming back my way real quick tell bobby to take some pics while this coon is so close but he is a little to concerned about his saftey from the evil and massive creature known as the Raccon. So anyway the dogs get back to me and begin baying at a hole about 5 feet from us. I get on my knees and look and WAAAAY back in there is the coon, Clifford and maggie begged me real sweat like so i let them dig it out and have some fun, which i rarely do maybe 1 in 10 coons or less but they did good all the rest of the night. here is one picture of clifford doing a little dirt work for me

cool pic. i found mine at a hole like that once. as soon as i got there my smaller dog went in the hole so far I couldnt see it anymore i herd an awfull thrashing and snarling and hissing water splashing and so on then it got quite and the dog came back out of the hole head first covered in mud and blood. I didnt think i was gonna see him again but it was cool to see him go in get the kill get turned around and make it out. This is him

I really thought they missed the coon and were trashing until i looked down in there with a stick went to jobbing around and he growled at me and showed his face a little. Would rather left with one up a tree but there thick enough around here i didnt hurt anything taking one i guess

I get quit a few in pipes around here. I lost my cur dog a few weeks ago, he got a twisted gut and I didn't catch it in time. I've never heard of it in a 35 pound dog, but aperantly it happens. Anyways, he was a hell of a pipe dog. duck season will be over here this weekend so I will get to start coon hunting. I'm gonna wish I had him.
