Is anyone using the new LED lights? I don't know anything about them, but I heard that some have really long burn times. What are the advantages/disadvantages to these lights if anyone on here has one? I'm ready for a new light, but I want the most bang for my buck.

I have used an LED light before. They surely have their ups and downs. Somethings I liked were that they did have a much longer burn time, and they were bright for a general "get around light" ...

The one thing I didn't like about them was when you wanted to zoom in and focus on one small area in a tree or something they were WAY LESS bright than a normal light. All in all, while the LED isnt really bad, they didn't make enough of an impression on me to get me to switch just yet...I'll keep using a normal one.

I have one from Tim's Hunting Supply .. Got just the head and put it on a Koch Show Me 8Volt box.. it will work real good for 5 nights without charging. has a blue looking light that is very concentrated. no side splatter.. kinda hard to pick up a coon swimming in the river unless you get it right on it.. that is the only problem... the new ones that Valley Creek and Bright Eyes came out with that have more than one bulb might give more of the area lighting I am used to, but the price of the Tims head was only $55. (I sure do like the length of battery life with it)

You can look up Tim's hunting supply and he has a real light weight outfit that will hunt for a while but the one my brother got will blink out ever once in a while... Maybe the switch...

the head I have will work on a Bright eyes 10 V but I have not changed the switch... it is only on high setting until I do that..
Les Scheffer has one of the Blazer's says it is the best light he ever used... and I feel his word is very good.

Thanks guys. I've seen them advertised, but didn't know anything about them. One of the kids over here that just started hunting said that the little bitty ones that bolt to the back of the hardhat (I think they've got a "4200" head... not a Wheat style head) said they were all the rage at the competition hunts.

I guess I'm too old to change and I'd like a battery on my hip. I'd seen that Nite Lite is offereing a 5100 style LED head that will plug into most lights. I've got an old Prowler 17V and was just thinking of an upgrade. I really like the belt lights, too. I didn't realize that the regular LED wheat style heads would improve battery burn time. That's a huge plus for sure.

I have a ProLite 24v belt light and I sure enough love it. The battery always lasts good and strong all night and I just throw it on the trickle charger the next day and she's ready to go next time....

you dont have to buy the whole new head, you can jus give Bob Ryals a call at 918-822-8888 and he makes LED bulbs, jus pop it in your head like a normal bulb. very bright, more burn time, he also makes coon lights. very good quality.

LED technology has really improved over the last few years. You can get supper bright lights with long battery life. Petzl makes the ACCU4 - Ultra-powerful headlamp. Really amazing light! But costly, I think $500 here is the link: www.petzl.com/en/outdoor/ultra-series/ultra-belt-0.

costco.com and the light is life gear. I got mine off ebay for 40 bucks i think and that thing flat out turns dark to daylight. I highly recomend this flashlight!

I'm not sure about focusing to one spot but it will light up the whole tree.... I don't see any reason why you shouldn't be able to find a coon with it..I like because it has 3 settings on on the lowest setting you can have light for a long time.. and then if you need it you can crank it up and really see..
