There seem to be alot of coons here (southwestern Arizona) in the lower elevations near the river and into the foot hills. And thier numbers are up with all the back yard bird feeders and trash. I don't take my dogs out of the mountains tho just too many people in the vally now. Up where I live we have very few if any most years, once in a great while we get a stray up this high (around 6000 feet).

if your talking most per area of the state I would have to say utah. There are areas of wyoming and montana and even parts of idaho but coon are more dispersed throughout the entire state of utah then the others.

There is a ton of them out here. Just not a lot of public access. I would hunt them in my yard if I wasn't worried about catching one under my neighbors porch!!
And there lies the problem . . .

Access is the problem. We have some here, but they are always standing in someones front yard. Was on my way to dinner the other night and had one cross right in front of the wifes car, but it was right at the city limits.
Where there is open area the Blackberry bushes are so bad I hate to run the dogs.

Arizona has a surprising amount of coons. We have lots of water in some spots and its usually good coon hunting.

Well I think WI is considerd the Midwest so I think I'm allowed to post here. Our population here has been down the last few years but seems to be getting back on the rise. Distemper went through the state pretty hard and didn't leave us a whole lot to mess with. Makes it pretty dang hard to train a pup when you can't find a coon. lol

Roughly around the Payson area. The whole Mogollon rim has tons of water coming off it and lots of lakes above it.
