STARTING PUPS

i i just showed my 4 month old pups a dead coon for the first time and they love it they trail great on sight and tree super hard the only problem is they dont wanna use their noses is there anything i can do or will they learn as they go :?:

PLAY WITH THEM WITH IT THEN PULL THEM OFF IT TIE THEM BACK AND LET THEM WATCH YOU DRAG IT OUT OF SIGHT LAY A SHOT TRAIL WITH IT AND TURN THEM LOSE AS THEY GET BETTER ON FINDING IT MAKE THE TRAIL LONGER I WAS JUST MAKING SOME SHORT 10 TO 15 FOOT DRAGS A WEEK AGO FOR MY SIX WEEK OLD PUPS WITH A COON TAIL AND A FEW OF THEM WHERE FINDING IT.

Around here they start using their noses at weaning age when its feeding time. I move the food bowl around to different areas. I don't know if it helps with tracking, but it helps with winding.

I suggest tying the pups and let them watch you drag the hide for 40 or 50 ft, but then go behind something that they can not see you and then hide the skin, dont hide it hard, make it easy for them and then hurry back to them and unleash them and go with them and talk to them tell them to find it, they will use there nose and find it the first time as long as you do not hide it to difficult, then do it over and over, hiding it a little harder each time. Also hide it on the ground at first and then work your way up into a tree. Good luck with those pups, Ive got 2 young 4month old pups as well in training so keep me posted.
