Every one I've had lasted no more than 2 weeks. Usually less.

The only time I had any experience with it was with a cameron dog I had. I noticed that he was stove up and stiff and then one day he couldn't even get out of his house with out staggering and falling down. This all happened after a tough fight with a coon in a creek. I was pretty sure what it was and took him to the vet but he didn't make it. Now, if my dogs catch a coon on the ground or in a creek I try to get there and dispatch it as quick as possible. Coon paralysis is not pretty. I have heard of some dogs getting over it but they never were the same after that.
