I was wondering if anybody has had any luck or any information about breeding majestics. Me and a buddy of mine aquired a black and tan bloodhound today and were wanting to breed it to his black and tans. I have never hunted with a majestic on coons and was just curious if anybody had good luck. Thanks and happy hunting.

Thanks Bearhunter, I kind of stepped into that one. The question is what kind of a dog is a majestic, as far as coon huning goes? Do they stay close or are they wide open? Are they hot, warm, or cold nosed? Can they keep up with a pack of coon hounds? How are they on the tree? There you go, a little more specific.

contact steve morrow on the UKC board. He can judge the pups to see if they make the cut and get them single registered through i believe the NKC

Well I believe you will get a wide range of answers to those questions.Depends on who ya ask.The only thing I can tell you the few bloodhoundXhound crosses Ive seen(no one was callin em majestics)were slow and those that would tree were'nt very good at treeing. If your are lookin to put more nose in what you have, take the time to look around and find it in the black and tan breed .Its there you just have to look for what you want. But if you are looking to sell some pups for looks then there is a market for what most are callin "majestics"

I would say talk to Majestic Tree Hounds on here, go down in the mejestic forum and you will find his name, he would probably know more about this one.

Thanks for the help fellers. I have a black and tan female that I got recently and a buddy of mine got a bloodhound a while back both papered, and I guess we were just wondering if a bigger hound might be a decent cross. We go through an aweful lot of snow and some nights it is just so cold the dogs go about three miles and come back, and maybe a cross might be worth a try.

look at this way: every cross is a gamble just some crosses have better odds

hummmmmm....

if breeding that bloodhound too a big plott hound might put some hunt and more tuffness in it ? I`d think of all breeds too cross on a big and long plott hound gyp, not bitch/ would make your best chance of makeing a big game hog/bear/lion hound, I`ve never seen a bloodhound work a coon or bobcat/ they might but I know a b & t x bloodhound works bear & lion !I don`t know what advantage there is in makeing that cross though less ya just want too scare some 200 lb bear when an adult bloodhound x black and tan catches up too it on the ground and heir pretty close too as long and as tall as one another/ hahahahaha !

I guess there isn't a real reason for doing it other than the fact that we can. I just love the look of the majestics, with that long hound face and big ole ears. I like a big dog and if a guy had one that could coon hunt then that would just be the icing on the cake.
