NEED UR OPINION!! TREEING, BUT NO COON

I live up in northern Wisconsin. Late last coon season i bought a straight pleasure coon dog. its about seven and a half year old English dog. the first time i brought her out i put her down on a bear bait that we weren't baiting anymore but there was still coon coming in. she went about a hundred yards and started barking. she is bawl on track. the track seemed like it kept getting better. i was watching her on the GPS. she made a small circle then she come up treed. she has a beautiful changeover, chop on tree. she was treed about six hundred yards out. i walked in and she was treed in a big oak tree. she is a beautiful tree dog, didn't leave the base of the tree at all. she was sure something was up there. i looked all around and couldn't find anything. i grabbed her and didn't think much of it. i went to the next bait that had coon coming in. i put her down and the same thing happened again. i walked in. it was a smaller tree so i was positive there was nothing up there. i thought maybe she was just as little rusty. i thought she would get better the more i hunted her. i hunted her every night for two weeks straight. i walked in to 28 empty trees. i seen a coon cross the road and then she treed it fine. i can tell this dog has been hunted before just how she takes the track how she trees and how she handles. she doesn't go after any trash. i showed her deer, bear and she doesn't want any part of it. i don't think she is slick treeing because it seems like she running a track. i am starting to get frustrated with her. what is your guys thoughts?

so true you may not want to think it but if she is treeing that many empty trees call it what you want but it's slick treeing to me . try hunting her away from all the baits let her find her own coon . may just be too much coon activity around the baits and with all that coon smell coming and going may be confusing her .

I would try this also and if there is no coons in the trees that are no brainers cull her or sale her as a pack dog to a bear hunter. Breeding her would be out of the question.

Yeah sell her to a bear hunter so she can start slick treeing and ruin his pack of dogs. You have got to be kidding me. I sure hope you were not serious because your idea is a joke, unfortinately it is something many people with bad morals do.

It is just as easy to feed a good one as it is a bad one. Find yourself a good one and you will then have some fun.

slick treeing is the result of the dog being tree happy and not checking the tree to make sure the game is there checking for a trail leaving the tree is what checking is . i don't know of a way to stop a tree happy dog .

whop his ass and send him on his way and hunt him with a accurate hound...to many cage coon and turnouts will cause this kind of problem.

I'm guessing the guy who you got the dog from knew what he was selling you (a slick treeing knuckle head). I hope you didn't pay to much for the hound.
