Coon hunting in Minnesota?

Postby JOKER09 » Sat Dec 01, 2012 4:07 pm

Hey anybody on here coon hunts in Minnesota? Just wondering if any of you guys run into porcupines a lot with your hounds, cause my last couple of hunts i hunted in nemadji state forest for badgers, coons, and bobcats but i ran into porcupines instead! My jagd got hit by them three times. first one got away cause the damage was to bad so we had to take out the needles from his mouth before he chew it all up and make it worst, the second and third dead with over 20 bullets up their ass but they left my jagd walking back to the car with only three paws touching the ground and one of my pups shitting when we were taking out needles from her chin! Just wondering whats a good place to get more action on coon in minnesota but also not to far from the twin cities and a better chance of not running into one of those (beep) again!

Four days after the accident with the porcupines my bros took the pups out and Joker wanted to go along, but still limping. So they went out and joker was only walking 5 feet ahead and he started tracking and ran off, 5 mins later he treed two coons, one in a small tree and one in a bigger tree. They took the one in the small tree and left the one in the taller tree for another day. Will joker and the two 4 month old pups took on the coon after it fell from the tree and i have to say a dog that could not walk for three days can still put up a good fight :D also the pups did really well for only 4 month old.

No it took place in a muddy part of a muddy stream so no good photos of the hunt.
