I have been taking a kid for the last couple years coon hunting and when he turned 16 his grampa gave him 2 good dogs slim and ben his first year was good treed lots of game and had no problems. his secound year slim ran a coon way up the river and ended up on some private property and the land owner shot the dog and the cops and warden did nothing. this year i bought two nice nance bred pups and gave him one. he has been hunting hard with beenand the pup skagit treed ten coons with them. anyway last week ben got lose and ran about a mile from the house and got hit on the highway the kid came to me and asked what he should do only having the pup left he was ready to quit and i told him to stay with it and he decided to take skagit out and found a coon track and that pup treed his own coon by himself last night. i guess the lessend learned is to never give up no matter what happens
