I've seen some people talking about it and others pictures from running during the day, but i had just a few questions. When is the best time to run during the day, how different is it, and is there anything else that pops out that makes it a whole different experience? I'm open to all opinions and answers, I just want to learn a little bit more.

some time up here in wisconsin the coon tend to move right before daylight.

In the summer months, I hunt exclusively in the mornings. I leave the house an hour or so before daylight and will hunt for 3-4 hours. You don't strike as many hot tracks but it will teach the dogs how to trail which is very important to me.

I run coons often in the morning, the downside to this is the large percentage of finding coons in den trees.

when i coon hunted I used to have real good luck in marshes just at daylight and even later on into the day, caught a lot in stumps and in cattails, rough walking but it was a blast. I found in this area (which is overrun by coon) you would get into multiples at daybreak as opposed to singles at night when they are foraging.

I live within the Catskill Park in NY, and often find coon in the daytime, despite the coon being thin around here. In daytime, they prefer places where there is little human activity, and they don't like bright light. If the shadows are long or the ravines are deep, they'll be out. There are a few spots that remain in the shadows pretty much all day that can be productive anytime. I particularly like looking over a new area in the daylight so I don't get lost as easily. The hills are steep and the roads are few, so I like to check out the lay of the land before I go wandering around alone at night on my arthritic knees.
