HI everyone, Im a newbie at this so i want everyone to give their opinions on what is the easiest hound breed to train, so i could hopefully train a half way decent coon hound

I think plotts are from what ive seen ,then again it all depends on what you want and what stock of dogs you buy into. I mean none is going to be easy at all, you will have to work with them no matter witch breed. A few of my redbones have been late starters but once they get it down they do the job with more style then my plotts. my walkers do good if you buy the rights ones . All in all they are all good. The only dog that has a slight edge for me but im a hounds guy is a cur . my hog dogs witch are curs naturally just tree and catch any game , but im slowly getting out of hog hunting so going back to all hounds.

This is a no brainer for me. The easiest dogs to train are the ones someone else has. Roughly 99% of the ones I've ever owned were thick skulled water heads which finally got something figured out after boatloads of tracks and exposure. It didn't matter color, breeding, location, whatever. Most are idiots.

Just get a old experienced hound and let him train your dogs. I do perfer Blueticks my self.

I have raised running dogs, treeing walkers and blueticks in the hound breeds and lot of lacy and catahoula cow dogs and crosses of the above. My experience is that catahoulas are pretty hard headed and lacys were not quite tough enough for the wild brahman cattle that we worked. Crosses of these breeds made better cow dogs for us.
On the hound side and answering your question, the blue dogs are much easier to train as they are easier to handle but I agree, there are different dogs in all breeds. It may just be the strain of dogs that I have hunted. The common problem I see in most blueticks is that once they get on a track, they do not want to quit it. They are very hard headed and difficult to call off a track that they like.

If you want to make a coon hound. Try a Black and Tan. quick to start and super coon dogs. I own Walkers and a Plott but I hunt Cats and bear. They all start quick with effort and diligence.
