garmin trouble but lots of hunting.

Postby mnb&t » Fri Aug 09, 2013 4:20 am

been running the hide off the dogs mornings and nites when i can but had a couple more dc30s bite the dust! not good only got 2 working collars. joe and tobys were the last 2 that went down. been running shadow collarless just for fun the little bit have taken her, been going old school with her and its working!!! little retard is making me proud(running with old dogs anyway).

last nite time runs with joe didnt get nothing going and was pissed so hit it early this morn. first drop he hunted good with nothing, second drop he got struck on bad track and worked dang hard stalling out near fallen tree going into huge den. was well after daylite and after going in and watching him work grabbed him and ran and got trix and shadow. dumped them in there but they all went through on other side of creek and got a race going way deep. got a phone call from bud with car troubles so never heard any of race but dogs got way deep and ended up treed and i thought was on a known den but was in ground hole near the known den. got in there and dogs were silent but come out of hole and im sure killed coon. joe got bit in leg and had to treat him this afternoon.

off and on little rains all day and couldnt get much work done but around place so went out hunting again at dark. dumped shadow, minn, trix, and toby and got corn track going that ended with minn and toby catching adult coon and trix and shadow catching kit. trix and shadow moved tracking again and treed across road where i cant hunt so called them back to road, trix got some juice and shadow followed.

cut again and toby was limping out of box but went and dogs smoked a track with a single. toby got treated after hunt also. other than dogs getting bit and garmin collars dying im doing good. LOL.

tommorrow nite gonna see if joe is ready to go and if not weez and drifty get to take turns single hunting.

sure been proud of the dogs from youngest pups to the old dogs hunting this summer. hunting conditions from dry as a bone to wet as can be and everything in between and the dogs always try hard win, loose, or draw. still dont know how they can run and track so well with such thick cover and weeds when any plant i bump into throws so much pollen and what not that i cant see 6 inches in front of me, let alone most the weeds are some type of thisle, nettles, hemp, or vines. this year after that drought any kind of weed with thorns is thriving. LOL.

took some pics and a video of the last tree tonite.
