Got a question
So I'm 15 and been huntin since I could walk. But I've never really known how a comp hunt actually works. Just been curious lately. Could somebody explain it to me?

Re: Got a question
I'm not comp coon hunting anymore but best advice that I can give you is show up at a hunt ukc/ Pkc and go as a guest on some cast and see how it works. Most guys on a cast don't mind you tagging along. I could fill up 10 pages on how it works. The guy that's over the local club wether its Pkc or ukc should have some rule pamphlets he can give you. Then when you think you kinda get it figured out enter ya dog and then the learning begins. Fun stuff. Good luck to you. By the way Pkc has an awesome youth program If there's a club near you. But basically 4 dogs are cast together. Point are awarded for first dog to strike then 2nd then 3rd then 4th. 100 being 1rst and down to 25 to 4th. Same concept on treeing. Then according to If you have a coon treed or slick treed or trash treed points are plused or minused accordingly. A lot of variables in there on each and ever hunt. Dog with most plus points at end of hunt wins. The only way to achieve plus points is to tree a coon and not get minused. The scoring system differs in Pkc and ukc but basically the same concept.
