Re: Coon Hides
I'd be interested to hear how it goes. How many do you have? How does the quality seem?

That's not too bad. It will put some gas in the truck at least. From what I have heard prices are on the low end right now. Hopefully they pick back up soon.

Re: Coon Hides
I don't think I would shoot out a coon for those eastern prices. Next year I am going to try and finish my own.
Re: Coon Hides
redbarn where are you from? I have a guy I bring mine to in the round every night when Im done. he skins, fleshes and boards them for 3.00. then he will hold then tell the nafa driver picks them up in December for the sale. the driver also comes back in January. after the auction nafa sends him his check for putting them up and then me the difforance. works great for me because he is on the way home from most of my spots. even if you were tojust bring him the hides and let him put them up you would probably at least double your fur check. not that its a huge deal but may as well get the most a guy can

Re: Coon Hides
I tried to do my own last year and after buying everything, I found that it just cuts into to much hunting time. if a guy did not have a job to go to it would be ok. figure it takes minimum of three days to dry on the board. even if a guy got 2 a night you still need a lot of boards and the reality is usually they are boarded for more then three days.

Re: Coon Hides
That sounds like a good deal. I had a buyer real close to my home when I lived in WI but since I moved here I skinned and froze them. I have a heated out building so I thought I would try and finish some. I am going to be cat hunting on Sunday again. Have you put your dogs on any cats recently?

Just got back in from cat hunting this am. We were only able to find one old track that I tried but couldn't get going. We are going out in the am but there is a cold front moving in. -2 for a high. Dress warm and good luck
