Re: coon hunting in wyoming
I hunt the north platte river a lot plus creeks and ditches that run off the river. I have a lot of trees on my land but you're right about coons getting a dog in the water. I've never lost a dog but I've had to pull a few coons off of their heads in the water. There are a lot of places to go plus a few people that might let you hunt their land.
I live near torrington.

Hey Bill, haven't seen you around in awhile. You should go hunt the Powder River around Kaycee they have a HUGE coon population there and ranchers would let you if you asked. They have triple the population we have up here.

Hi Tessa, I've thought about hunting down there but I don't want to step on the toes of the locals who are hunting down there. Do you know, do they still grow a lot of corn done there?

Bill,
I haven't been back in a few years, but I am sure the ranchers are still growing corn for their stock. I do not know anyone with hounds still around that area so I doubt you will be stepping on anyones toes. The coon population has probably flourished in the last couple years there. Lot better than we have here and there is more land to hunt. You should call a few ranchers there and ask. I am sure they wouldn't mind a bit. They never did before.
