Highest Cougar/Bobcat numbers
Highest Cougar/Bobcat numbers
What areas and regions of Nevada seem to have sustained the highest populations over the years? Where do you fellas have the best luck?
Re: Highest Cougar/Bobcat numbers
Alex: Read your question. How would you answer it if someone was asking about your favorite place to hunt? Dewey
Re: Highest Cougar/Bobcat numbers
I see your point, Dewey.
Although, no one would be giving away their honey holes with a broader answer or by pointing to a general area of the state.

Alex: Bobcat hunting is not legal for a out of stater. In the early '70 I hunted south of Austin Nevada for lion but most mountain ranges had lion in them then. I have not hunted there since. I bet it has not changed much. Dewey
Re: Highest Cougar/Bobcat numbers
Back a few years ago I heard ELKO, WELLS had the best cougar population!
IF IT SQUATS TO PEE, LET IT BE....
Re: Highest Cougar/Bobcat numbers
I've never ran hounds, but I'm pretty sure most ranges have a good number of lions. I have yet to hunt or trap a mountain in Nevada and not see mountain sign. Heck, just last weekend I saw lion tracks following a heard of bighorns about 1/2 mile from the city lines down here in Vegas. Close the the California border seems to be more and more popular for lions. But like stated above. Can't hunt bob kitties.
