Mason , Did you fill up the Bong with Basin Water again or what?Or maybe had a helluva bender again with Kev.
Most coon want to get away, most little bear want to get away, EVERY Badger I've caught wants to rip your leg off.
I dunno we've got a saying around here about dogs that don't stick on a caught bear. "It's just a coon dog".
Nowya got a point but a 35 lb coonor larger and they do come that way in riverbottem and tuleys padd island & rice fields coon/ are walken tom lion like and they will not usually run from 4 dogs let alone 1 dog ! They stand up on their back legs and slapp the dogs like a cub bear and the next morning your 2 dogs have faces swollen up like a football ! I`ve see 5 fox hounds x coon hounds in brod day lght tackle a big bore tuleys coon and they just got the Tom T. Hall overhaulen oftheir life ! Yes they went no bear dogs absolutely true and we shot that coon twice in the head an chest with a 22 cal rifle then Boogie steped on its back & head and held on too myshoulders so the coon couldn`t get turnedand the dogs took along time too die and I think it died ofthe 22 shots not the 5 dogs who then was sinking fanggs in him ?
But like you I think the badger is roughfer and is just born to be tuff/ I know in Germany they got Mink & Badger hounds that are successfull solo and maybe they are smarter hunters and can teach a dog too fight badgers and then lighten quicj mink ? I also kno a 80 lb bear is a puddfor a pack of hounds they will strech him out and kill him ! BUT I never never ever hurd of a solo bear dog on the ground killing a 80 lb cub and didn`t think it could happen that very way/ I believe any hound who balls up on a brar is made a mistake that will indeed cost him his life !in my humble openipn anyways.Calkens is a coon hunter, he isent a bear hunter/ but if hes says he has killed a couple of badger allready/ hey thats a couple more than I have ever seen get killed and I can`t prove him wrong !

That's a tough one. But honestly the match up between a dog against a coon or badger is a lot different then the matchup between a dog and a bear.
The comparison of a 50 pound hound against a 200 pound bear is equal to a 30 pound coon against a 7.5 pound dog. So that'd be like a chihuahua (spell) fighting a 30 pound coon. I'm giving the dog little to no chance in either situation.

Hmmm.... must have some pretty big badgers in Wi
Come to think of it, I don't even know if they have badgers in Wi, so I looked into it, they have Taxidea taxus jacksoni, a subspecies of the american badger. Not sure why you are so adamant that a badger is almighty badass, guess its cause there are no wolverines there? They are definately grumpy individuals that I have personally had jerk a tie down strap right out of my hands when smacking one with it to deter him, but like was said earlier, when the bear is properly motivated and has the proper temperment for the situation, the badger is dinner no matter how he feeels about it.
To answer the question asked earlier about how the airdale got behind the badger, they are not that hard to get the jump on when they are busy digging up some food or trying to get some female attention, have had them trot all around me grunting and chasing a female and literally pay NO attention to the arrows I was skipping off the rocks at thier feet.

A 30 pounder around here is pretty average. Ya you see smaller ones, but it is not un-heard of to see a 50 or 60 pounder when selling hides. I have a friend that sold one to a taxidermist that was 63lbs and the heaviest that I have seen actually weighed. Either way, mean sombitch.

Let me see your war face!!!
