new dog sneezes

Postby Old dog » Wed Sep 03, 2014 1:02 pm

cant see anything in her nose. she was xtra thin when I got her but she is picking up good after two weeks of food in front of her. she was too weak to worm so I just kept food out for her and she responded well so I don't think she is wormy. she sneezes bout every twenty minutes. any ideas? she comes from ten and I am wondering if there is a common illness there that I don't know about. she is active and perky, don't look sick just sneezes

Take her to your vert and have her checked for heartworms as these are very common in southern states, and even if a dog responds to feeding and picks up weight heartworms can be congesting the heart.

It may be nothing but it won't cost you much to find out and you can rest easy after that. If the dog does have them the earlier it is detected the better the chances of survival area.

Good luck

There could actually be something in the nose, like a foxtail or something similar .Also my dogs will sneeze for several minutes on occasion after trailing on this bone dry ground.Dogs like people can also have allergies.Do you know if the dog was sneezing for the previous owner ?Try changing its bedding ,feed bowl"etc" to see if it helps any .

I went to the woods because I wished to live deliberately, to front only the essential facts of life, and see if I could not learn what it had to teach, and not, when I came to die, discover that I had not lived.

She could just be adjusting to the climate we are a bit dryer out here then TN. new pollens and all that could be a factor.

Also you can't blame him for the cologne, he had to break out that 50yr old bottle of brute since there was a new girl at the house  . sorry even though i'm not part of the group i couldn't resisit.

Old Dog, I'm no Vet., but looking at the Pictures of the Dog you sent after she arrived. I'd say she was down so far and "Stressed" that she picked up a Respiratory Infection on top of Dehydration, and Malnutrition. With her down so far watch out for a secondary Infection!! You can get Antibiotic's at the feed store Cheaper!! I know with your Med. Bills you can't afford to spend much.

But, that Damn Fox may be on to something???
