I would say if you saw deformed pups its not from inbreeding. It would be from unsound breeding stock that sould not be bred at all. Inbreeding can only produce what is already there. Inbreeding will tell you alot about your breeding stock, like if they are prepotent to pass on the desirable traits or if the dog is a cull in the breeding pen.
As for me, if I got deformed pups from a breeding I would look very hard at fixing that line so no more pups were ever born! Even if you outcross you will still send those genes down the line and they will show up later on.
I suggest reading any thing from Richard McDuffie, or Al Lynn on the subject. Even if you don't plan on close breeding the info on genetics is a huge plus for any breeding program.
If they're going to run trash, they better run to cath it!!!
