Libby,

In this part of your letter...

This blatant political pandering is irresponsible. If ODFW is charged with managing Oregon’s wildlife, then manage it effectively. Behave like grown-ups and quit acting like children squandering money that isn’t yours, trying to make the most friends…do the right thing: Sell tags for hunters to hunt with the best known method, and manage the cougar population while making revenue.

They CAN NOT DO THAT.... Do the people ( hound hunters of Oregon not get that)???. ODF&W can not JUST sell tags to take care of the cougar problem to hound hunters. This cougar plan is what they ( and OHA)came up with because the people voted agenst hunting cougars and Bears with dogs. This cougar plan is a way that ODF&W is trying to Manage the population and not go agenst what the people voted to stop. They may not be doing it the right way and we may be agenst it but it is what ODF&W can do ( what they think they can do) to manage the cougar population.

Im not against this letter at all and I thank you Libby for felling so strongly for the hound hunters. This is a tough thing to work agenst but we need to make sure we are not putting ODF&W against us. In the long run that is the last thing we need.

well maybe the thing to do is nothing, by this i mean it is very clear to me that no one has a plan or a way to orgonize one..??? and as i see it the govenor ,game commission or some one is getting a lot of pressure from some place to do something about the cougar and bear.. the way i see it at this point is let them figure it out, dont help them at all. just leave it alone and abide by what they come up with... i really dont think they can suceed in any program they come up with with out the help of some real houndsmen that have dogs that can catch lions and bear. seeing as i am no longer in oregon and so far away i am going to back off this topic..but if i or the missouri houndsmen ass. can help in anyway let me know....friend in sport..........tom wingfield

Tom, keep in touch, Definately could use the help when we figure out how to sink the ship "PLAN".. But I think you are correct. right now there is nothing to do with this plan.. Best thing hound guys can do in my opinion is to stay clear of it... Let them pay for it and let them see what kind of task they have out for them without Hound hunters.... Especially if they have have to use the Deer and ELK $$ to pay for it, It's what they asked for.. Just my opinion though..

Hopefully and the DEER and ELK hunters $$ that ODFW has and goes to this Money pitt of a plan.. the more they use their own money to pay for it , I'm sure the more creative they will get... Money kinda has that effect on people,

Buddy

Didn't I say I was done with this?? :?
