Mondo, ''We do have plenty of porky's around.'' There is your answer, thanks. I agree about the dog or dogs that will be the problem. The porkys don't go after the dog.
But once a dog starts especially if they are mature and did not learn young it can be a challenge to break.
Hope you did not jinx yourself lol.

Ker man, I hope not too. I guess I haven't been in that position and hope not to but I just can't see owning a dog that starts baying a porky on a hot bear chase which usually pulls other dogs out of the race. I know what you mean by being hard to break when they get older but how many young dogs got influenced by that older dog? As many know, for some young dogs, all it takes is one bad instance to influence that dog for life, be it a bad bear, getting excited over a porky...
Now fishers, thats another story, couple of my 6 month olds started a fisher on a bear cold track last summer which pulled in the rest. I was so proud of them being in the lead coming for a road expecting the bear to cross any second when the fisher crossed right in front of me. Damn, what a downer..lol After a little training seminar, hopefully they learned a lesson. And I do mean "little", can't be to hard on a 6 month old....
