Short Hunting trip..

Postby Buddyw » Mon Nov 26, 2007 3:27 pm

Started out with a rough start..

Spend most of my weekend Wrenching on my Truck and welding and finishing the Dog Box for the cat trip next week,

but We did manage to take the wife and dogs out for a .."quick Hunt' mostly to exercise the dogs.

Roaded them up and back, and about 1/2 mile from the end of the night Almost falling asleep, Dogs jumped off the road. Two came back..(did I mention I was almost falling asleep).. Well I walked over to the track and was talking to the two (Older dogs trying to get them to take it....... Probably not the right choice!)

Young pup started moveing it out and they all jumped in on it and was doing a nice job.. I can hear them working up over, so I drive around to the top and listen.. but the wind is going pretty good, I heard a couple barks but couldn't for the life of me figure out where it was coming from. Took my best guess and hiked out that Draw hoping to get "lucky"

Well luck was pretty low in my deck of cards..

Got back to the truck and after driving with the tracking system I figured out the crossed up into the Timber company, (behind locked gates)

Took a nap..
First male came out about 1am.. Drive around, nothing. Take another 20 minute nap.. Next one Came down about 3:30am.....

Full of Porky pine quills... Deep ones too... *%$(B Get as many out as we could and realized that a Vet trip was going to be needed to Tranquilizer her..

Hour before light I met the Gate Keeper opening the Gate to let the Archery hunters in Drive around and by the time I get to the spot the dogs were the pup decided to drop back down to the orignal road..

All they way back around and pick her up then to the Emergency Vet.. Couple hundred bucks later, got to bed about 11am.

I hate those "SHORT" trips.. ....

At least they got some exercise!!!

I am so glad to know we are not the only ones with that type of "short trips" We finally quite making plans on the same day we go out... If we do... We are never home till the next morning... If we have no plans... everything runs smoothly..

Hopefully they got it all out of their system for your big cat hunting trip

never mind "short"--eventually, all the dogs came home. Sounds like a good hunt to me!
