So have any of you out there tried these yet?

I don't think they hit the shelf until July 9th or so...

I can tell you I am going to be watching reviews and saving my money up..

I need to get dogs with a little longer necks so I can fit an extra collar on there

i used the old style collar and it worked great when the collar stayed upright. it saves a ton of time and most importantly it could save your dogs life. if they overheat or are getting close to roads and you can tell the quickest way into them when they are caught or treed.

Ohh yeah, I gotta get me some, I have been hesitant because of the first model and so many things people did'nt like about it, but it definetly looks like garmin listened to everyones input to improve this product. Improved design, improved range, new accesories, like the handheld long range antenna, yeah I think I am going to get a 4 dog system and run it on about half my hounds. I like the new looks and description of the changes, ie. metal attachment plates etc.....

i would imagine that even the new gen gps unit has trouble picking up a signal under canopy? probably works really well in the desert and sage but thick alder and fir country not so much. heck i cant even get a steady signal on my sirius driving the highways around here.

I don't know about the coast.. but it works in Southern Oregon in our big tall thick trees.. You guys up there would put it to the test though..

I myself would still run my other tracking collars on the dogs.. At least for a while..

probably a sense of security to have something on your dogs that you are familiar with, kinda uneasy feelin tryin something that has not proven itself yet. sounds like the gps tracker would come in handy coupled with a tritronics for training purposes.

I would'nt ever abandon regular tracking collars but use them in conjuction. I think they have alot of great features that can help in other ways regular tracking collars can't....

When I used them for the weekend... it was great.. we ran a bobcat and you could actually see the loops the dogs were making.. I also shocked one of my dogs on a bear and it showed us where he was sitting/pouting about 70 feet off the road.. The regular tracker knew he was close, but with the Garmin we could REALLY tell he wasn't moving and right where to walk to him.. It saved some time..

I would probably run my shockers on the Garmin.. With those new G2 shock collars and the Garmin doesn't look that heavy.. I think you would be set up alright..

i think they sound great, have they improved the battery life on the colars. I heard they are only like 18 hours or something. But i didn't know they are coming out with a new style, sounds good .
