Just got a new pupp yesterday. A 9 week older male walker. I also have a 13 month old female walker as well as a 6 year female.
I was curious, would my pup being pampered inside, sleeping at feet lieing on couch ruin him? He WILL be outside, he is a hound and is intended on being trained like my others. However he is VERY young.
I am not one to push training I know he will be ready at his own pace. So until then would him being inside do any harm, teach bad habits? Or should I just put him with the other dogs and work with getting him started in a few more months?
Any opinion would be great!!!

all of our dogs raised from pups have been family dogs as well. they are raised with the kids, go camping, fishing, exploring, and even irrigate and learn to ride on the 4 wheeler. We believe our dogs hunt harder because of this..It works for us.. dogs are social pack animals and as long as they know you are the alpha in charge. being around the family will also enable you to teach him manners and allow you to read him as well.
I think family raised dogs know what pleases you and displeases you and they respond on the positive side.
They are still hounds though and a crate or kennel for when you are gone is highly recommended as they stink
if you know what i mean

If you live out where you can do it WITHOUT UNDULY ENDANGERING the pup the best thing to do IMO is to let it run loose during the daytime and chase cottontails, jack rabbits, squirrels, etc. It will learn to quickly find losses on the trail and pressure the animal much better than ANY OTHER way you may try. Granted it will be a little harder to break off trash than your lapdog, but all things considered it will be well worth it. You do need to keep it penned at night and work with it on handling. If it starts running-trailing at 6 months I would do this until about 10-11 mos. of age and then start hunting it with trained dogs. Probably get a few rebuttals on this, but to each his own. Everyone has their own ways and if it works stay with it!

I do live in an area were this is possible, only thing, This pup won't leave my side. If I go inside, he'll be at the door. If i'm out with him he'll wonder off about 30 feet max and come back.
I'm working on a 13 month old female now with my 5 year trainer. Any opinions on this pup being aroud while I have them track and tree a caged coon? Now I won't be working with the pup on the coon, not intentionally getting him involved. Just asking opinions on him tagging along near me, and getting closer if he gets curious on what there doing.
