free feeding

I am wondering if anyone is free feeding their hounds. If so how is it working and how long did it take for them to start eating normal?

Depends on the dog.
Some will nibble all day and eat what they require. Others dont eat enough.
Some eat everything you put in front of them and gain weight.
My one dog is free fed and is in perfect shape. However thats not always the case.
Outdoor dogs i will not leave food out.
Just my. 02cents.

i will not free feed dogs out doors ether to much moldy feed in bad whether or to many pounds not geting eaten but the dog .mice rats birds eating valueble feed . if your kennels indoors or dogs chained in a barn free feeding is not so bad and some dogs shoud do realy good on it. if i was u i woud try feeding them 1/2 thre feed in morning and 1/2 in evening try that for 2 weeks see how they look and act it might make belever out you i feed my dogs 1 a day except when we have a bad snow storm then i feed um twice a day in morning i feed there dry feed brake the ice out there waters or dump the ice out and fill whith fresh water .in evening i do the same but i mix there feed and warm water and give them that they do good no amont of feed will do your dogs good if he dont have fresh water avalible if his waters iced up and theres snow on ground get out there and get that ice broke out the dogs bucket and double the normal feedings on some dogs if its dry cold keep the ice out them waters still dry cold is diff then wet cold dogs are not bringing mosture in there houses after they eat so its not as bad also when its real cold mix poted meat wet dog food meat scraps what ever you can get thats good and meat based hamburger works good and some times you can get it cheap from butcher shops ore stores for animal feed talk to your local butcher and your supermarket butcher and see what you can get old burger for dog feed for. mix meat scraps and there regualr portions dog food whith warm water then feed this way the get something warm in um.you can tell witch dogs need more feed and witch dogs need lees if you look at um every day whith if you use feeders you get some realy fat dogs and some that stay just right if you do find some that stay just right keep them on feeders buy all means and go back to feeding the others every day.hope this helps .

I free feed my two female hounds they do well. My male it doesn't work for he eats everything that is put in front of him.

My female gets 3 cups in the a.m and three cups in the p.m my male gets 4 cups in the a.m and 4 in the p.m.. i feel if i free fed they would never stop eating
