Interesting stuff!
Elk are indeed fantastic animals and when you live in close proximaty to them you learn to appreciate them all the more.

I am very lucky to basically live surrounded by elk. Many mornings we wake up and the ranch with elk playing in the yard or in the early fall we fall asleep and wake up with the bugles of rutting bulls all around. At times we have migrations that cross the place and we have watched hundred of elk from the front porch trooping by like Caribou from the far north, quite a sight for sure.

Hunted fairly on a one on one basis one will soon learn that elk are adaptable and learn quickly if you mess up on your hunt. A big old smart bull can really test your patience and skill as a hunter. It is no great feat to knock one off at 400 yards with a big scope a rest and a super magnum rifle , however getting down in the dark stuff with them and getting close with a stick and string may just be one of the greatest of North American hunts.

Once harvested you also are treated to a tremendous amount of wonderful organic meat that is good and good for you.
