what do you look for in a mule?

I am tryin to find one that would be perfect for hunting. I know alot of coon hunters use them and I have a couple friends that use horses when they lion hunt, but I plan on using a mule or two. My dad has one and got me hooked. I would mainly use it on lion hunting and deer and elk hunting. So what do you guys think? how tall, what breed of mare or Jack? any opinions would help.
