Hey guys, was wondering what any one uses to get good quality video, WITH good sound, when they are hunting. My brother has used a regular video camera in the past, but honestly that's too bulky, I get some decent video and sound with my cell, however carrying that is difficult sometimes bc I don't wanna get it wet and have to buy another one, and I'm always getting wet from the bushes. I tried the GoPro Hero, used a hat mount, video is good, easy to use, just doesn't pick up sound of dogs much over 50 yards it seems like. So far my cell phone has been the best option, but in afraid to take it far from my truck for fear of ruining it, and therefire miss most the things I'd like to video. anyone else having success with another product? Any ideas? Thanks

Go pro's are probably the best for being tough and water proof and excellent video at 4k... the Garmin virb is good also and easier to use.. but no zoom and terrible sound. As far as sound goes thats tough and I have had lots of trouble figuring out how to get good sound. Both the Garmin and the Virb have adaptors you can purchase through amazon that allows you to hook up an external mic.. still not weather proof though.. if your handy with video editing you can get a zoom 1 and record sound separate from video and sync later on a computer...
This year I have splurged and I carry a Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ1000.. has a fixed lens but a really good zoom .. and I can hook an external mic to it...real good sound 4k video 200mm optical zoom that can be pushed up to 400 I believe digitally..I carry it in a shoulder case that CLICK makes and it has a water proof cover... For a point of view I use a garmin virb.. and I do have a zoom 1 recorder and have used it for audio but its a pain.. My iPhone 6 has just about as good of video as anything going.. like you said just have to be careful about the water and there are all kinds of accessories for them..
When I first started making videos I didn't realize there was this much too it.. but I got into it and enjoy working with it as a hobby... just another way to enjoy your hunting and share with others... besides its a lot better then watching TV at night ..

Got to agree there CB, them bridge cameras (panasonic fz etc) are fantastic- not to bulky to be a nuisance when the main thing is hunting and great zoom capability when the action is way off.

I keep my phone in a case by Lifeproof. Offers some shock resistance is waterproof and does not hinder functions about 80 bucks. The I phone's ring tone seemed a bit muffled and phone conversation were tough if much background noise. Got Samsung in same case and don't notice the draw backs as much

Look up YOSH for your cell phone. A waterproof holder you wear around your neck. Can use in the case or pull it out. Best out for audio. Not expensive and works.
