FRTHC Bobcat Hunt

Greetings!
It's that time of year again for a competitive bobcat hunt. FRTHC will in conjunction hold a raccoon hunt as well. We will discuss the terms and prizes awarded in our September meeting held Tuesday the 6th in Lebanon, 6pm at James Gang Pizza.

Membership is required to compete. Bobcat hunts will be December-January-February

Annual membership is $10.00.
Entry fee per month is also $10.00 per event per person.
We will have a payout for the biggest monthly bobcat and a combination weight for all three months with top prizes to be determined at our September meeting. We make this a State wide hunt and you must comply with all Oregon Rules and regulations, you must choose either Eastern or Western Oregon and both are lumped in the same, it's the biggest bobcat treed and harvested over hounds in the State of Oregon.

We want participation! We ask if you have access to a certified scale, please weigh and photo your cat and weight, if you don't have access to a certified scale, please use a digital scale accompanied by a photo. This is an honor system event and should be mainly for supporting our club and fun. You can also post a photo of your bobcat-coon on our Fern Ridge Tree Hound Club facebook page.

Nothing that happens in Salem pertaining to our hound hunting rights is overlooked, we are present whenever and do whatever it takes to preserve our heritage!

FRTHC does good things, we support our troops and hunt our Nations finest veterans, we mentor our youth in the field with annual kids coon hunts. We fight hard in Salem for our Hound Hunting Rights! Your participation and support is appreciated. We plan on asking for two months extended training season and will be fighting to advance our time spent with our hounds in the woods, the ground work has been laid out and will be met with a force of resistance, but very obtainable!

Yes, so long as you are either an Oregon resident or purchase a Non-Resident fur bearer hunting in Oregon license during the legal harvest season within Oregon, Dec-Jan or Feb, and either a valid Western or Eastern Oregon bobcat record card, you can participate with a $10. club membership. (NO trapped or snared bobcats, hounds only)

ALL OTHER STATES ARE PROHIBITED.

Mike you guys might think about organizing a nationwide or North America contest. You could keep the Oregon one too. It might be a great way to raise some more money, and give folks a fun way to contribute from other areas.

Great idea! Our Hound club meets the first Tuesday of each month and we can discuss and vote on that concept. That way, an entry fee would be all that's needed to participate Nationally with 100% of the $$$$ generated, donated back to defend our hound hunting heritage to the National organization, that formation is currently under construction / concept phase as well. FYI- OUSDA is becoming a 501 (c) (4) political non profit and our FRTHC is becoming a 501 (c) (3) non- profit, along with South Cascades so we can fight the fight supporting our hound hunting rights and heritage in State.

Lets hear some feed back from all other States. We could easily get sponsorships for great prizes and possible cash pay outs, this would change things requiring weight slips / photo verification if it becomes a large scale competition. States that have annual bobcat seasons would simply compete during the designated months only making this a fair competition...

I would favor that.

Some locations lack bobcat but have Lynx. I think it would be hard for a lynx hunter to top some regions in the lower 48 for bobcat weights. Regardless, It's not about winning but supporting our heritage.
You going to make it back out to the Chilcotin?

Might could recognize the best cat from each region (state/province/or region). This might encourage those in areas of smaller cats to go ahead and enter.

Looks like I'll have to start another thread in the bobcat section next month ( October) when I come up for air to see if there is enough interest in a National bobcat competition. If you ask a question? I won't be around to answer it until October, leaving town.
