He sure did do a lot for his breed of choice. Losing a man like this Makes me think of the George Jones song “Who’s going to fill their shoes “

R.I.P. John

John and I had many great conversations over the years, and my old Texas Ten Speed dog out of John's Scorpion was one of the best bear dogs I ever owned.

So sad to hear this! I hunted with John many times back when i was making a lot of UKC hunts.
Got to hunt with Big John, Rider Tom and saw old Cole Younger when he was too old to hunt.
He was a great sportsman! Been to his farm in Alba, several years back.
RIP Mr. McDonald!!

Many years ago, I had a nice pair of his hounds. They looked and performed excellent on coons and could swim like a fish. Early starters, good feet, great confirmation and beautiful.
I had my friends, two six year old twins with me fishing in a canoe. I was in the middle of a lake, the hounds seen us and here they came. Knocked over the canoe, one of the kids panicked, the other swam to shore. I had to tell their parents. Right before, I found out about his death, the twins dad and I were taking about it.
