Random thoughts on California
I use to say "If hunting with hounds is outlawed, will you be an outlaw?" Considering the way the Fish and Game Commission is treating us I have revised it: "When hunting with hounds is outlawed, will you be an outlaw?"
If bear hunting is outlawed, only outlaws will hunt bears.
A thought for the HSUS: If you manage to get hound/bear hunting banned, you'll be the prey. We'll cut your track, trail you, tree you, and take you."
Happy memorial day. God bless our troops, especially the snipers.
Homeland security starts at the border. -Pete

Re: Random thoughts on California
Growing up in N. Cal, it is sad to see us losing more and more country and privileges. Law enforcement including Fish and Game only seeking to give as many citations as they can for revenue. To have licensing fee's for revenue increasing to a level where i cannot afford to license my whole family. To have our wildlife programs being pressured by government and organizations into idealistic views instead of monitoring and managing it on a factual, scientific, and professional level.
It ads meaning to the democratization of democracy. Our country was never meant to for one group of people to make laws to govern another set of people. Democracy was set up to keep the government from controlling the populace.
Whats happening in California is only set to spread to all of The United States as more misled people fresh out of school take control of positions which monitor and control our wildlife and lands.
Its frustrating to know that while we make small wins its an uphill battle with the population growing. Most of those being people being raised in cities and not understanding rural life or the fundamentals of wildlife.

Put the blame where it belongs. Our liberal Fish and Game department. There arent as many tree huggers out there as you might think. They are just the most vocal. If our F&G department would stand up and tell the truth there would be alot more people on our side. The problem is the tree huggers have infiltrated our government and are in charge of making and enforcing the laws. The biologist still support he hunters even hound hunters. Its the people enforcing the laws that are our enemies. We need to clean out the enforcement branch and put some good ol fashioned common since hunters in there.

Re: Random thoughts on California
Thats just it you hit the nail on the head. Its sad I have heard so many time why would Fish and Game want to ban hunting then they would be out of work....
REALLY thats funny cause there is sure lots of Cops, DEA, FBI, CIA, Homeland security out there and you cant kill someone, or do drugs, or get on a plane with a bomb. If they stop hunting here in California they will still be guys poaching more then we have now. It will be such a problem that I would bet they will add 40-60% more wardens to keep up. Let see right now DFG has no funding they are under staffed they are facing cutbacks.....
Wow why will they not work with us?

Re: Random thoughts on California
Just a quick side note on the whole subject and it might be a little off topic but has anyone seen the show WILD JUSTICE in the first show it depicts bear hunters in the worse way as all houndsmen are poachers and thousands of dollars are made off of black market gull bladder sales. It was rediculous.

Yes Outlaw most have seen it there was a post on here about that show. It did not do us any help as houndsmen here in California thats for sure. Its sad that the actions of few can condemn so many. Now most if not all houndsmen will be viewed by the non hunting public as poachers and black market crooks. Thats why we must use every opportunity to educate and inform them and let them know as in many things in life there are good and bad and to not let the actions of a few influence there perception of us all. Also remember when you are out in the woods you become an extension of us all so please act accordingly the antis need no help from us and shows like this do nothing but help them win this fight.

Don't even get me started on "Wild Justice"! The next time a warden makes a 2012 demand to search your vehicle or residence you can confidently tell them no. Then cite the recent court decision People vs. Maihiko and watch them stop their illegal search. I am working on a large article for Western Outdoor News on this. It is a major shift in the way Fish and Game is going to be able to operate. Stay tuned. happy new year -Pete
