yes, you just have to get a letter from the area DNR biologist. it will specify which areas you can hunt and how many dogs you are using.

Any luck finding bear hunters with dogs? I am looking at moving to the anchorage area will probably live near wasilla or palmer and I have dogs now. I am currently in Utah. I would be interested in seeing how this worked out for you. As of now I am assuming I need to sell the hounds.

Planning on it. I should have an exact date shortly after the first of the year. I am pumped up. It should be a blast.

Try Conrad Belgarde of Kodiak Masonry, he has some good dogs- used to have mostly walkers but he loves those redbones. He's right there in Wasilla. Also- get real good at checking tracks on your rig strikes, there are lots of brownies there even in the subdivisions, and the dogs can't tell the difference. (you can't legally run brownies) I'm living on an island with only blackies so can dump on any strike. Good Luck!
