WYOMING ROCKS!!

Post by snakerivercatman »

After three days of looking high and low for a decent track, I cut one yesterday afternoon after lunch and the race was on. It was my first go round with my new Garmin system, and man I've got to tell ya even though I've got a lot to learn about the system, it performed flawlessly even for a moron like myself!! My hunter, Bill Hoffman of South Dakota couldn't be happier with the trophy, a REAL nice tom.
More importantly, my little female Mimi shined like a diamond on this chase, leading the charge a bellerin and a hollerin! Makes a papa proud to see his own breeding come from nipple suckers to bark chewers. It's been a long road for this late starter, but boy the light sure has gone off and she's turned into a little lion chasin machine!!

ps sorry the cat pic is a little fuzzy. Hard for these digital cameras to reach through all the foliage!

Good Job, you sure been puttin' up some chunky toms over there, they must be eatin' like kings. Just by the picture, that lion looks alot more like 140 lb class.

Thanks, the gene pool over here is short and stocky. Not many toms tape out too much over 7 feet, but they sure do have the girth! This one weighed 151 a full day after the harvest weighed by the gut and feathers dept.

Broke 1,
I've been on this site for a few months, and even though I don't post as much as a lot of guys do, I find this the only place I've ever visited that I can feel safe SHARING, which is what this website is all about. Everyone on here is very respectful, and courteous for the most part. Thanks for your comment, though. Really, I do appreciate it, and thanks for joining, us Wyo boys are in short supply on this site!!!

I figured you could give all the info you wanted but what would keep other people out would be the wind. :) It sure made it interesting thats for sure. I remember hunting lion in the spring early summer over in shoshoni on horseback and feeling like I was flag tied to the saddle horn. It was a lot of fun too.

I'm sure it depends what part of state your at, but the cat hunting doesn't rock at where I'm at. As far as keeping anything a secret it's too late for that. When you've got big mouths going on about unlimited quotas and year round seasons on this site ... this year has been the most outta staters I've seen around here in the past 15 years. Why the hell would anyone travel half way across the country to hunt an area where the management policy is zero lions .. WTF. Oh no but they come floodin' in trespassing, shooting juvenile females. Isn't the internet great ?

Ya the wind does play a BIG part, doesn't it? Nothing like watchin a big front come in, and lay a bunch of snow down only to have a hurricane follow it up and blow it all to Nebraska.

Oh yeah, I sure miss the days when we could saddle up and trudge on. In my area, it's the wolves that have shut down our early season dry ground stuff. I'll tell ya, I was in that lost cabin country the other day and man is it rocky.....gotta have a horse for that country, my skags and skis are GONE!
